Welcome Dr Omar Sali to Highbury Medical Centre
Highbury Medical Centre is proud to welcome Dr Omar Sali, an experienced FRACGP-qualified General Practitioner providing comprehensive, patient-centred care for individuals and families in Highbury and surrounding suburbs.
Experienced General Practitioner with a Broad Medical Background
Dr Omar Sali began his healthcare career by completing a nursing degree, followed by a Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Cebu Doctors’ University College of Medicine in the Philippines, graduating in 2003. He gained extensive experience working across tertiary, secondary, and primary care hospitals before relocating to Australia in 2008.
After moving to Australia, Dr Sali worked as a Registered Nurse at The Canberra Hospital before resuming his medical career in 2012 as an intern at the same hospital — a rare and valuable pathway that has shaped his holistic approach to patient care. He later worked at Gosford Hospital on the NSW Central Coast as a Senior Resident Medical Officer, rotating through multiple specialties including Emergency Medicine and Geriatric Care. He also held Unaccredited Medical Registrar roles at Wyong and Woy Woy Hospitals.
Fellowship-Trained GP with Rural and Regional Experience
Dr Sali developed a strong interest in general practice and family medicine in 2016 and joined the Rural Locum Relief Program (RLRP) in Wauchope, NSW, working under the mentorship of an experienced FRACGP supervisor.
In 2018, he was accepted into the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Program, completing training placements in Muswellbrook and Tamworth, NSW. He later transitioned to the Practice Experience Pathway (PEP) while practising in Bendigo, Victoria, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in September 2023.
Special Interests: Family Medicine and Travel Medicine
Dr Sali provides care across all aspects of general practice, including preventative health, chronic disease management, acute presentations, and long-term family care. He has a special interest in Travel Medicine and plans to pursue further training in this area, with a long-term goal of establishing a dedicated travel clinic offering specialised vaccinations such as BCG and Yellow Fever.
