Frequently Asked Questions

Highbury Medical Centre is located at 1009 Lower North East Road in Highbury. There is ample on-site and street parking available, as well as public transport access.

The doctors practising at Highbury Medical Centre offer mixed billing.

Bulk billing is available for all children aged under 16, Australian students, Pensioners, and Health Care Card holders.

International students will be billed in accordance with the agreed arrangement between the practice and the student’s health insurance company.

For all other patients, an appointment fee may apply and is payable on the day. Your appointment fee will depend on the type of appointment and the duration. You can find the doctors' fee list here or call us, and our friendly reception team will explain the fee structure to you. If you are entitled to a Medicare rebate, this can be reimbursed at the time of payment.

WorkCover/MVA claims are the patient's responsibility until a claim is supplied. Some other services, such as insurance, medicals for diving courses and medicals for employers, cannot be claimed from Medicare. Personal accounts are issued for these services, and patients are asked to pay the account as soon as possible or pass the account to the appropriate authority for payment. Credit card facilities are available at this practice.

Fees for investigations (such as xrays) and specialist appointments are the patient's responsibility. Information on how much these fees will be can be obtained when booking the appointment.

Please note that there may be additional costs for other GP service items or clinic services such as wound care products, consumable items, and specific administrative requests (e.g. transfer of medical records). For a full list of fees, please see the reception team.

A standard consultation time is 15 minutes.

A longer consultation time is 30 minutes. If you have numerous or complex medical issues or require a procedure, a longer consultation may be required.

Highbury Medical Centre does not facilitate walk-in appointments unless a doctor deems an urgent consultation required. This is because most doctors are booked up in advance. To book an appointment online, click here. Alternatively, please call us on (08) 8263 9388.

At Highbury Medical Centre, we use a secure automated SMS system to communicate with patients about results. Depending on the test that has been undertaken, a consultation may be required to receive results. It is the patient’s responsibility to follow up on their test results, and we actively encourage patients to be proactive in their healthcare and book an appointment for results before leaving the clinic.

Unless encryption is used, email is not a secure platform for communicating sensitive information such as test results. Also, to protect your privacy, you should never email personal information, such as your birth date, address, Medicare card number, etc., to our clinic.
