Dr Omar Sali
Dr Omar Sali completed a nursing degree followed by a medical degree from Cebu Doctors’ University College of Medicine in the Philippines in 2003. After graduation, he gained broad clinical experience working in tertiary, secondary, and primary care hospitals before moving to Australia in 2008.
Upon arrival, he joined The Canberra Hospital as a registered nurse before resuming his medical career in 2012 as an intern at the same hospital — a rare and rewarding opportunity. Around three years later, he relocated to Gosford Hospital on the NSW Central Coast, where he worked as a Senior Resident Medical Officer, rotating through various specialties including the Emergency Department and Geriatric Ward. He later held an Unaccredited Medical Registrar position at Wyong and Woy Woy Hospitals.
Dr Sali developed an interest in general practice in 2016 and joined the Rural Locum Relief Program (RLRP), working in Wauchope, NSW under the mentorship of a FRACGP supervisor. In 2018, he was accepted into the Australian General Practice Training Program (AGPT), completing placements in Muswellbrook and Tamworth, NSW. He later transitioned to the Practice Experience Pathway (PEP) while practising in Bendigo, Victoria, and was awarded Fellowship to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in September 2023.
His professional interests encompass all aspects of family medicine, and he is particularly keen to further his studies in Travel Medicine. His long-term goal is to establish a dedicated travel clinic offering specialised vaccinations such as BCG and Yellow Fever.
Outside of medicine, Dr Sali enjoys pursuing informal studies in religious education.
